Valentine's options

Well, it's almost that time of year again. Where we remind our loved ones how much we love them, i am trying to decide on what to give mrs.sarccastik this year. I'm thinking about dinner and a movie, and our little coffee shop (Cafe Intermezzo) and buying something for lil' sarccastik. I might give the little one a bear with a valentine's day card, i know she will love that.....A couple of restaurants came up on Rachel Ray's visit to A-Town...mrs.sarccastik has it written down somewhere, but i would like to surpise her.......here are a couple of spots i'm thinking:

The Vortex (little 5 points) Never been..heard it was good food.
Two Urban Licks (off Ralph McGill Blvd) Never heard of it before.
Atlanta Fish Market (always heard it was good food) Never been...but i could always tell you where the big fish is...lol
Cafe Intermezzo (Buckhead and Dunwoody) Perfect for a date night. That's my spot...been there a couple of times.
Inman Park Patio (Inman Park) Never heard of it...I might have passed by it and didn't know it existed....food looked good on the show....
Mid City Cuisine (Midtown Atl) Never heard of this either.....food looked pretty good
Watershed (West Ponce) Passed by it several times....food look great
The Flying Biscuit (Candler Park and Midtown) Passed by it several times....always talked about going
Emeril's (Buckhead) Food was great...(especially that dry aged ribeye)...damn that was the best ribeye I ever had......it's expensive but you get what you pay for....

i'll figure out a movie......also trying to figure out what to give my lil one....suggestions? What are your plans for Feb. 14.

Speaking as a single (aka bitter) Black woman, I hate Valentine's Day and I have no plans. But yours sound great! :) I always pick up some candy and a card for each one of my children and this year I bought myself a really expensive purse.

12:13 PM

i usually get my kids a little candy thingy from target. and my husband loves truffles so he'll get those. he has to work all day so we prolly won't do anything. by the time the weekend comes around he'll have some excuse why he doesn't want to do anything. it doesn't bother me though because before i got married i always hate Valentine's day.

Thanks for the restaurant info! I'll be in Atlanta in July so it will come in handy. Do you have any further recommendations? Thanks in advance. Shawn

p.s. Miss A & Star Jonez started it. Miss A kidnapped my cat Toussaint and Miss Jonez is now claiming he knocked her up. LOL! Reading this, yeah it does sound a little crazy. But funny as hell!

wHAT UP MY FELLOW VIRGO..HOW U LIVIN...HAY VDAY IS JUST ANOTHER DAY REALLY..LOL BUT THE IDEA OF IT ALL IS QUITE NICE..SO WHAT U GETTIN WIFEY?

1:37 PM

I think this year I am going to blow off V-Day. Whatever you get your wife, make it special... we appreciate that more the the financial. Good Luck

2:28 PM

i say take her to savannah.

I'm not bitter but I'm not big on Valentine's Day. It's pretty much a made-up, commercialized holiday. That said, I will get a card and an extremely practical gift for my SO. We won't do anything other than exchange cards on the actual day but we will have a nice steak dinner on Saturday (the 11th). I can't see braving the crowds on Tuesday just because somebody said that's the one day I'm supposed to show my love.

Thanks for swinging through the uptwon spot.

Give the little one a huge, and I do mean huge, stuffed bear of some sort. She'll love that!

Take your wife to one of the places that you two haven't been before. Try something new for V day.

5:26 PM

I think it so wonderful that you are thinking ahead on this one! I agree w/Msnhim, she will definitely appreciate the thought involved more than the money spent. At least I would and most women I know. She is gonna be so happy. You should try to do something that you have not done before. As for the little one, I don’t have a clue. But that giant teddy bear sounds like a good idea.

7:51 PM

Forget the gifts and the restaurants!!!! Call up a family member to watch the lil one this weekend and treat your wife to an "at home" spa treatment with you as her personal servant. Set the scene, be spontaneous!! Let your imagination go wild (NOT sex, cater to her needs)!!

Then on Feb 14, cook a nice candle lit dinner and serve it on the "good" china and silverware. Let your babygirl sit at the table too and serve her sparkling cider in a plastic goblet while you and the wifey drink wine/champagne. If you are so inclined, ditch the Hallmark cards and give each of them a "handwritten" love letter (remember those from back in the day LOL). Take her back!! Blow her f*ckin mind!! Remind her of why she fell in love and married you.

Mrs. sarcastik will be impressed because she'll know you put a lot of effort into it and lil' sarcastik will feel like such a grown up AND daddy's lil' girl.

Dinner and teddy bears are so blah. Create a family memory! With women (young and old), it's the thought that counts.

10:13 PM

My suggestion is some place that you can reserve a table at...although this late in the game you might not get a reservation. Women are all about the thought...of course taking her out shows thought but taking her somewhere and having it appear that you planned it months in advance is even better.

My 2 cent pretty much cosigns with single mom. Romance is the key. Pay attention to her, cater to her.......seduce her!

The art of seduction is a beautiful thing and you don't have to pay for it!

Take her somewhere emotionally and mentally that she has never been or been in awhile!

Personally I am not really celebrating the day......

1:14 PM

a card & something simple is always nice to me.. last year my husband cooked me my favorite dish. i loved that.. im not to sure what to get him this year.. any suggestions? what does a guy expect on v-day?

2:31 PM

- Cut out a lot of little hearts on stickies and write "I love you because (fill in the blank)" or anything sweet. Then hide them in all sorts of places for her to find (purse, shoes before she gets dressed, bathroom mirror, the refrigerator or her car door, etc.).

-Hand deliver a single rose to her job with a note attached that says "you are my one and only"

Let us know what you decide.
